Why guitar players need a metronome
A metronome turns vague 'I think I'm getting faster' into measurable timing. Start at 60 BPM on one chord, land every downstrum on the click, then add eighth notes and chord changes only when the pulse is solid.
If the click seems to disappear into your strum, you're in time — that's the feeling to chase, not playing ahead of or behind the beat.
- Clap with the click for 30 seconds before touching the guitar.
- Practice slower than song tempo until accuracy is high.
- Use subdivisions when upstrokes drift between beats.
